Ordinance Enforcement Officer

The Ordinance Enforcement Officer works closely with the Planner / Zoning Administrator to enforce the standards in the Zoning Ordinance, investigate complaints, educate property owners on issues of noncompliance, and issue citations if necessary.  Communication and education have been found to be highly successful tools for fostering compliance.

Please note the changes made in 2018 to the Outdoor Burning Ordinance and the Sidewalk Ordinance for the health safety and welfare of those in Kalamazoo Township.
Burning has been restricted to small recreational and cooking fires and sidewalks must be kept clear of obstructions such as snow, ice or overgrown shrubbery.Please see ordinances above for details.

Dangerous Buildings: Ordinance No. 288  

 An Ordinance to secure the public peace, health, safety and welfare of the residents and property owners of the Township of Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, by the regulation of dangerous buildings injurious to life or health: to provide for the means by way of hearings for the making safe or demolition of such dangerous buildings; to provide for the appointment of a hearing officer; to provide penalties for the violation of said ordinance, to provide for assessment of the cost of said making safe or demolition of; and to repeal all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict therewith.
