INCIDENT SUMMARY:    


A residential fire was reported to 911 and responding police and fire units found the house engulfed in flames.  The Township of Kalamazoo Fire Department discovered one victim within the residence. 

 

The cause of the fire is still unknown, however TKPD detectives are working in collaboration with the Township Fire Marshall as the investigation continues.

DATE OCCURRED: Sunday January 13, 2019                  TIME: 9:10 P.M.

LOCATION OCCURRED:  4000 Block of Grand Prairie Ave., Township of Kalamazoo

INCIDENT SUMMARY:

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety was dispatched to the 4000 Block of Grand Prairie Ave. around 9:10 P.M. on the report of 4-5 shots fired within their jurisdiction. KDPS officers determined that an unknown suspect had shot into a Township of Kalamazoo home located across the street in the Township jurisdiction.

INCIDENT TYPE: Fatal traffic crash involving a pedestrian  

 

 

DATE OCCURRED:  Wednesday December 5, 2018

 

 

LOCATION OCCURRED:  2200 block of Gull Rd., Kalamazoo Township

 

 

VICTIM INFO:  Noah Mickaels, 40 years old from Kalamazoo 

 

   

INJURIES RECEIVED:  Fatal

 

 

INCIDENT SUMMARY

A man was struck by a vehicle in the 2200 hundred block of Gull Road at approximately 5:57 p.m.  Responding officers found the subject deceased upon their arrival.

On December 7, 2018 a 69 year old Richland resident contacted the Township of Kalamazoo Police Department indicating he may have been the individual involved in the traffic crash on Wednesday, December 5, 2018.  The vehicle has been forensically examined by the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety Crime Lab and positively identified as the vehicle involved in this crash.  The Township of Kalamazoo Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident and asks that anyone who may have witnessed a black GMC pickup in the area of the accident at around 6:00 p.m.,please contact the Township of Kalamazoo Police Department at (269) 567-7523 or Silent Observer at (269) 343-2100 with any information.

INCIDENT COMPLAINT:  18-004004                             

INCIDENT TYPE: Attempted Murder       

DATE OCCURRED: Wednesday November 21, 2018       TIME: 12:25 P.M.

LOCATION OCCURRED:  1500 Block of Waverly Dr., Township of Kalamazoo

INCIDENT SUMMARY:

The Township of  Kalamazoo Police Department responded to a 911 call of a shots fired in the 1500 block of Waverly Dr. When officers arrived they found an 18-year-old Kalamazoo City man and a 19- year-old Kalamazoo Township man, both with apparent gunshot wounds.

Eyewitnesses indicated two black males in their late teens to early twenties fled the scene to awaiting vehicles.  One vehicle is described as unknown make or model maroon minivan which was last seen going south on Wallace St.  The other vehicle was described as an unknown make or model silver minivan that fled in an unknown direction.

The case remains under investigation and the police are asking anyone with information to please call the Township of Kalamazoo Police Department at 269-488-8911 or silent observer at 269-343-2100.

VICTIM INJURIES:  The victims were transported to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries.  The victims’ conditions are not being released at this time.

DATE OCCURRED: Wednesday October 24, 2018           TIME: 10:49 P.M.

LOCATION OCCURRED:  3300 Block of W. Main St., Township of Kalamazoo

INCIDENT SUMMARY:

The Kalamazoo Township Police Department responded to a 911 call of a man being shot in the 3300 block of West Main St. When officers arrived they found a 27-year-old Township resident with multiple gunshot wounds. According to the victim, two individuals knocked on his door and when he answered a confrontation ensued followed by gunshots. The investigation revealed a possible relationship between the suspect and the victim.  Officers feel this is an isolated incident and not a random act of violence. Officers believe this incident started over an issue with marijuana.

The victim was transported to Bronson Hospital with non-life threating injuries.  The case remains under investigation and anyone with information is encouraged to call the police or silent observer.
