Voting Information

VOTING SECURITY

The State of Michigan uses a voting system that optically scans each ballot and if an error is made, the ballot is rejected and the voter has the opportunity to review it, correct it or not, and resubmit it.These optical scanning devices also have many security features. The machines can only be turned on or closed out by using a security key. The ballots are locked inside yet another locked section of the device. This provides a backup if a manual recount is necessary. Each device also has a built-in battery backup that will activate in the event of a power loss.
