Mr Salmons has been located and is well.  The Township of Kalamazoo Police Department appreciates the assistance from the media in broadcasting information to our community, and the responses from concerned citizens regarding Mr. Salmons.

INCIDENT TYPE:   Armed Robbery, Resisting and Obstructing

 

DATE OCCURRED:           Monday, August 19, 2019  

 

TIME OCCURRED:   18:16 hours

 

LOCATION OCCURRED:  3600 Block of E. Main St.

 

VICTIM INFO:              56-year-old female

 

INJURIES RECEIVED:       Stab wound to the arm  

 

 

INCIDENT SUMMARY: 

 

Township of Kalamazoo officers responded to the 3600 block of E. Main St regarding a 911 call reporting a stabbing of a clerk at a local store.  The investigation revealed that the clerk had confronted a retail fraud suspect as he was leaving the store. The suspect, a 32-year-old Kalamazoo resident, produced a knife and stabbed the clerk in the arm and then fled the store on a bicycle. Township of Kalamazoo officers located the fleeing suspect a short distance from the store.  He was initially uncooperative and resisted arrest. He was taken into custody and transported to the Kalamazoo County Jail on charges of Armed Robbery, Felony Assault, and Resisting and Obstructing Police. The case will be sent to the Kalamazoo County prosecutor for review

 

The victim was treated at the scene by Township of Kalamazoo officers and responding medical personnel before being transported by Life ambulance to a local hospital.  The victim is reported to be in stable condition

 

The suspect was arraigned in 8th district court on one charge of armed robbery with a serious injury and one count of resisting and obstructing a police officer. The suspect remains in custody at the Kalamazoo County Jail.
