Brush and storm debris pickup is still ongoing throughout Kalamazoo Township. Crews began collection on June 2 and are continuing their one-time pass through each neighborhood. Due to the high volume of debris, the process will take several weeks to complete.

NEWS RELEASE

DATE REPORTED:  February 27th, 2022           

LOCATION OCCURRED: W. Mosel Ave. / Douglas Ave.

INCIDENT TYPE: Fatal traffic crash

INCIDENT SUMMARY:  On February 27th, at approximately 10:00 p.m., officers with the Township of Kalamazoo Police Department responded to a report of a car versus pedestrian traffic crash. Upon officers arriving on scene they found one subject unresponsive on the side of the road. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

The driver of the vehicle involved in this incident was not injured.  Neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor in this crash.

This case remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Silent Observer at (269)343-2100 or the Township of Kalamazoo Police Department at (269)381-0391.

Assisting Agencies: Assisting on the scene was the Township of Kalamazoo Fire Department, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety and Life Ambulance.
