In response to the severe storm that struck the Charter Township of Kalamazoo on May 15, 2025, causing widespread tree damage, downed power lines, and blocked roadways, the Township Board swiftly and unanimously approved emergency funding for storm debris cleanup efforts. The decision reflects the Township’s commitment to service and its proactive approach to supporting the community in times of need. On June 2, 2025 curbside brush pickup will commence across affected areas. Beginning immediately, tree removal services are being prioritized and evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Residents are asked to place manageable brush near the roadside. For larger trees or more complex needs, residents may submit a service request via the Township website at ktwp.org/contact-and-hours or by calling (269) 381-8080. NEWS RELEASE

INCIDENT TYPE:       Fatal Car Crash

DATE OCCURRED:  Monday July 4, 2022 at approximately 11:45 PM

LOCATION OCCURRED:  2200 Block W. Main St.

INCIDENT SUMMARY: 

At approximately 11:45 PM The Township of Kalamazoo Police Department and Kalamazoo Township Fire Department responded to a single vehicle crash into a tree.  Investigators determined the driver of the lone vehicle and only occupant had succumbed to his injuries.  At this time this incident is still under investigation.

VICTIM INFORMATION: 

The victim is a 20 year old male.  His identity is being withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin.
