NEWS RELEASE

DATE REPORTED: Thursday March 9th, 2023, at approximately 1:55 a.m.                    

LOCATION OCCURRED: 2600 Block of Douglas Ave., Township of Kalamazoo

INCIDENT SUMMARY:

On March 9th, 2023, The Township of Kalamazoo Police located a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a closed business. Before officers were able to make contact with the vehicle it fled the area. Upon checking the business further, officers located a subject breaking into the business. The suspect fled the area on foot, but was quickly taken into custody by Kalamazoo Township officers. The second suspect who was driving the get-away car was later located a short distance away and subsequently arrested on related charges.

This case remains under investigation and is being forwarded to the Kalamazoo County Prosecutors Officer for review of criminal charges. Anyone with information is asked to call Silent Observer at (269)-343-2100 or the Township of Kalamazoo Police Department at (269)-381-0391.

SUSPECT: A 44-year-old male of Kalamazoo County and a 47-year-old female of Gratiot County were lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail.
