In response to the severe storm that struck the Charter Township of Kalamazoo on May 15, 2025, causing widespread tree damage, downed power lines, and blocked roadways, the Township Board swiftly and unanimously approved emergency funding for storm debris cleanup efforts. The decision reflects the Township’s commitment to service and its proactive approach to supporting the community in times of need. On June 2, 2025, curbside brush pickup will commence across affected areas.  Residents are asked to place manageable brush near the roadside.

NEWS RELEASE

LOCATION OCCURRED: 600 Block of Commerce Ln, City of Parchment, County of Kalamazoo

INCIDENT SUMMARY:

The Township of Kalamazoo Police Department was dispatched the 600 block of Commerce Ln for a report of a suspicious object in the Kalamazoo River. Responding Officers determined there was an unidentified male body in the river. The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety water rescue and recovery unit assisted in the safe recovery of the body. Investigating Officers are working to determine the individual’s name and cause of death.
