In response to the severe storm that struck the Charter Township of Kalamazoo on May 15, 2025, causing widespread tree damage, downed power lines, and blocked roadways, the Township Board swiftly and unanimously approved emergency funding for storm debris cleanup efforts. The decision reflects the Township’s commitment to service and its proactive approach to supporting the community in times of need. On June 2, 2025 curbside brush pickup will commence across affected areas. Beginning immediately, tree removal services are being prioritized and evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Residents are asked to place manageable brush near the roadside. For larger trees or more complex needs, residents may submit a service request via the Township website at ktwp.org/contact-and-hours or by calling (269) 381-8080. Posted on August 26, 2022

May 9, 2022 Township Climate Action Plan and Vehicle Purchase Policy Approval

Led by Clerk Miller and seconded by Trustee Glass, the Climate Action Plan for Kalamazoo Township was approved unanimously by the Board of Trustees. As noted in township minutes, the Climate Committee met for more than one year with each other and various internal and external stakeholders to come up with this aspirational plan.

In addition to the approval of the Climate Action Plan, the Board approved a Township Vehicle Purchase Policy as item 8b on the agenda. This policy aims to reduce our consumption of fossil fuels and begin the transition of township fleets to fully electric as soon as feasible given budget and infrastructure challenges.
